Petrol

Petrol is perhaps the fuel “par excellence” for motorists since it has been widely used during the last century thanks to the widespread use of Otto cycle internal combustion engines, for which such fuel was formulated. Even today this kind of engines is used in many cars in several segments, but they keep the quasi-exclusivity only in the segment of super sports cars and in the motorcycle sector.

The most important characteristic of petrol is its anti-knock property since it is designed for controlled “explosion” engines (produced by the so-called “spark”).

The performance of these engines, plus their control systems, is closely dependent on how they have been designed.
